Facebook launches ‘Collab’ app to compete with TikTok
Like TikTok, in Collab, users can create videos and synchronize the existing videos of other users by aligning them correctly. However, instead of two vertical videos of TicTalk, users can sync up to three videos simultaneously in landscape mode.
Facebook’s New Product Experimentation (NPE) team is testing these days on a new app. Actually, it is inspired by the short music video app TikTok, named ‘Collab’. However, at the moment this app is only available for Invite-only beta version users of iOS. NPE has claimed in its note that on Collab App users can create their own original video, watch and even mix and match the video. TicTalk also offers a similar feature to its users, in which they sync to existing videos on this platform. However, on this platform, users can sync up to three videos simultaneously instead of two.
How does Collab work?
Like TikTok, in Collab, users can create videos and can sync with other users’ existing videos in perfect harmony. However, instead of two vertical videos of TicTalk, users can sync up to three videos simultaneously in landscape mode. However, the final video will be vertical only.
After creating a video on Collab, users can share it on other social media platforms. The company said that once the collab video is made, you publish it so that other users can see the video and mix and match it on that video. You can also share videos made on this platform on other social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook Story etc.
However, it is not clear whether it would be mandatory to create an account to watch videos on this app, or like TicTalk without creating an account, the video can be watched on it.
Currently, this app is only available for Invite-only beta users. However, you can try the beta version app by signing up on the NPE website.
