The family of a Northeast Georgia mother murdered this week is seeking help covering her funeral expenses. They also hope to raise enough money to open a trust fund for her two young sons.

25-year-old Alexius Spencer, of Bowersville, and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Jerece Teasley, of Hartwell, were shot to death on May 9 in a car on Redwine Church Road in Hart County. Authorities charged 59-year-old Morris Norwood with two counts of felony murder.

Authorities have not released a motive for the murders.

Family and friends fondly remembered Alex, as she was called, as a “beautiful” and “great” mother who wanted the best for her boys.

“She always wanted what was best for them and tried hard to give them a life better than what she had,” says friend Karen Buchanan. “She was full of light, love and joy.”

Alex’s aunt, Annette Bryant told reporters: “She was a very sweet, kind person. Everybody loved her, and so it’s just hard to believe that her boys don’t have her anymore.”

Buchanan and Bryant set up a Go Fund Me account in Alex’s memory. Their goal is to raise $10,000. To donate or for more information, click here.
