Person in custody dies at Anchorage Correctional Complex – Anchorage Daily News

A man who was found unresponsive in a cell at the Anchorage Correctional Complex on Friday afternoon was later pronounced dead, Alaska State Troopers say.

No foul play is suspected, troopers said in an online report.

A correctional officer found Anchorage resident Austin Wilson, 34, unresponsive in a cell by himself around 12:35 p.m., troopers said. Responders tried to revive Wilson, but he was later pronounced dead by emergency medical services, according to troopers.

Wilson was being held on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and trespassing, according to online court records.

He is at least the sixth person to die while in Alaska Department of Corrections custody this year.
