Tottenham compare one of their academy stars to Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur have compared academy midfielder Rio Kyerematen to Spurs cult hero Christian Eriksen.

The Tottenham media team made the comparison after the 17-year-old helped Spurs reach the Under-18 Premier League Cup final.

Kyerematen scored an outstanding 89th-minute winner against Sheffield United’s U18s at their training ground on Monday.

The teenager’s goal was the only one of the game as Tottenham booked their place in the final against Aston Villa.

Kyerematen finished off a wonderful team move that began with Luca Gunter in goal and also featured Jahziah Linton, Jamie Donley and Mikey Moore.

Tottenham’s media team compared the encounter to the Spurs senior team’s League Cup semi-final second-leg draw at Bramall Lane in 2015.

On that occasion, Christian Eriksen scored a brace, including an 88th-minute goal, to cancel out Che Adams’ own two-goal haul.

The 2-2 draw, combined with Tottenham’s 1-0 win in north London, put Spurs through to the final against Chelsea.

‘It was eerily reminiscent of the 2015 League Cup campaign at first team level,’ began the Tottenham media team.

‘A tough semi-final away to Sheffield United with the snow falling, where a late goal from a certain midfield maestro booked our place in the final.
