Who is Noah Madrano Oregon? faces kidnapping and rape charges in Oregon

An Oregon man arrested in connection with a missing Edmonton teenager has been detained on state charges including kidnapping, sexual abuse and rape, U.S. authorities said Monday.

Edmonton police said this weekend that the man faces charges of baiting a child and that other Canadian charges may be added as the investigation progresses. The 13-year-old girl was reported missing after failing to go to school or returning home on the afternoon of June 24.

She was found in Oregon, Edmonton police said Saturday. The girl and suspect EPS Insp. Brent Dahlseide said in a news conference. The suspect has since been identified as Noah Madrano, 40.

The FBI in Portland said in a statement that it assisted in the arrest of Madrano on suspicion of luring a girl from Canada to the United States. Madrano was arrested in Oregon City around 4:45 a.m. Saturday, the Oregon City Police Department said in a separate statement. Oregon City has 37,500 residents and is located approximately 20 kilometers southeast of Portland.

Madrano is currently being held at the Clackamas County Jail in Oregon City. He is expected to appear in Clackamas County Circuit Court for an arraignment after the July 4 holiday weekend.

Madrano was charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree rape, according to the county sheriff’s office website.

CBC News did not identify the girl, but he spoke to her father when he boarded a plane to meet his daughter on Saturday.

He posted on Facebook Monday morning announcing that they would be returning to Canada.
